What Thermal Imaging adds to a Weathertightness or Building Inspection<\/span>.<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thermal imaging adds the ability to scan large areas and identify thermal anomalies not visible to the naked eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a common misconception that if leaks are present there will be visible signs; and an accompanying smell. But this is not often the case.

Yes, some leaks show staining, swelling to trim, bubbling to the gib, and often wet concrete smells; but this can often be visible a long time after ingression began and the damage within the walls can be severe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other times water can infiltrate the rear of the timber (often due to the type of guttering) framing causing decay, while the front of the timber is dry and showing no visible evidence of the structural decay or unhealthy moulds within.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Infrared camera detection of anomalies (cooler areas) at the rear of the frame, path travelled, water pooling on the ceiling (roof leaks), under decks (deck failure), or below showers (shower waterproofing failure) is the cameras forte.

Infrared <\/span>teamed with Moisture Meters <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Infrared is best performed within the property’s interior. Exterior thermography is difficult due to weather and draught factors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camera is one tool in the inspection arsenal to be used with other moisture meters and extensive experience in Weathertightness by a Certified Weathertightness Building Inspector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
